Mark Saulnier's background includes a degree in historic preservation, as well as architecture. This led him to work for National Trust for Historic Preservation. One of their trust properties is Lyndhurst Estate on the Hudson River.

"It was one of the grand homes of the area," he says. Also, Saulnier says he did high-rise restoration in New York City. "I used to ride up and down the outside of the building in the window washer scaffolds doing investigation of the outside of the buildings."

Now he works out of an office in a building behind his 1927 bungalow-style house in the Audubon area. He says it's been his own personal ongoing restoration project.
