Cape Fear Station Logbook - 3

"At Bald Head Island, the kids are much freer to roam," said Jennifer. "With the lack of traffic and crowds, you just don't have to worry as much."

That ability to return to simpler times not only lured the Horrigans to Bald Head Island, it sold five other couples on having their annual college reunions on the island. Brian went to the University of Richmond, Jennifer explained, and every year since graduation six couples who were college buddies have gotten together for a week of fun in the sun. "We've never missed a summer in 18 years," said Jennifer, "There used to be 12 of us, but now that we all have kids, there are 28 people."

Jennifer said because the majority of the group lives in New York or Washington, D.C., they used to meet up north, on the Delaware or New Jersey shore. "But once we got them to Bald Head Island, they were sold. We've moved the location to the island permanently. They really love this change of pace-" Another couple in the group has bought property on the island, as well." On Bald Head Island, you truly feel like you have gotten away from it all" said Jennifer.
