John said he and Beverly like to sit on one of the west-facing porches and look all the way down the marsh past O1d Baldy Lighthouse to the river "We watch the big ships go in and out of the channel," he said. "They are as tall as the lighthouse."

The Fisher home, completed in spring of 2006, is located on the corner of S. East Beach Drive and Station House Way. John estimated that the couple, who have lived in Charlotte, Connecticut and Kentucky now spends 85 percent of their time on the island, with short visits to a lake house in the Piedmont and a home in the mountains near Boone.

While he grew up in the Albemarle, N.C area, John's family had a vacation home at Long Beach on Oak Island, just across the river from Bald Head Island.
